As fans await with baited breath the final season of Game of Thrones, which premieres on April 14, series star Emilia Clarke has revealed she survived two life-threatening brain aneurysms in a first-person story for the New Yorker. We have always been fans of this upbeat actress (who can forget her moving performance in the romantic drama Me Before You), whose bubbly personality shines through in her social media posts. We admire her bravery in dealing with her medical situation and in coming out with the story to the public; we truly wish her all the best for the future. Check out page 5 for the full story of her ordeal and a ‘one hundred per cent’ recovery.
For some local tidbits, let’s go from Emilia Clarke to another extremely likeable and down-to-earth Hollywood star – Hugh Jackman - who is in Dubai for the Global Teacher Prize to be announced today. Jackman’s Instagram account has been buzzing with local posts for the past few days, from a visit to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi with his wife Deborah Lee-furness to trips to the desert and spending time with a falcon. Was anyone lucky enough to spot the charming actor out and about in the UAE? Drop us a line let us know! Another famous face who was in town for the Global Teacher Prize concert event held last night was former One Direction star Liam Payne - if you were lucky enough to attend his concert, tweet us @Ktcitytimes and tell us your thoughts! Have a great week.
