In the lead up to Christmas, family favourite ballet,
is coming to Dubai Opera from today. Watch the Saintpetersburg Tchaikovsky Ballet Theatre bring the story to life with expert moves, dazzling costumes and a wonderful orchestra in support. On from 8pm.
Isuffer from a tinge of FOMO I admit, though by no means is mine a fully blown malady. Residing in a country like the UAE, it is perhaps natural to feel a sense of compulsion to join in on every brunch or attend every concert you are invited to. That’s the kind of thrall that Dubai and the UAE in general hold over us.
But what I actively suffer from is a clear cut case of FOBO (Fear Of Better Options). Those afflicted with FOBO could find it excruciatingly painful to choose between a pizza or a burger for lunch or shopping at Spinneys or Carrefour.
So imagine my plight when faced with the long National Day holidays. The ongoing Black Friday deals have enticed me to the malls already. Then there is the choice between Global Village and the Miracle Garden.
On top of that, I’ve just learnt that my all-time fav Swedish lifestyle store is opening up a new branch close to where I currently reside and just day-dreaming of the new range of products which they, no doubt, will be introducing has me worried about where I’m going to find place to keep all the newly acquired ‘home essentials’.
As if that weren’t enough to give me a headache, it’s time to zero down on the Christmas tree – do I just pick up the one from the hardware store down the road or do I have enough time to get one delivered from an online shopping portal? While on Christmas, what are your New Year’s Eve plans??? The added pressure of ensuring you have a memorable transition into 2020 that hopefully won’t be forgotten halfway into the new year is enough to bring on another fully blown attack of FOBO. Unlike us, hopefully you don’t suffer from FOBO, and are making the most of the wonderful weather and the celebratory events happening around town. Enjoy!
