Moving on from her previous role as senior interior designer at Perkins+Will, where she was recognised for her outstanding work within the corporate workspace sector, Laila Al-Yousef started her boutique firm earlier this year, along with former colleague, Matthew Sexton.

With a strong focus on social responsibility ethos, Al Yousef is widely known for her active involvement in the conceptualisation and the growth of the Surge for Water initiative, which originally launched five years ago. Sustainability is another pivotal area for the young Emirati designer and her new firm, as she aims to inspire young women, especially Emirati female talent in the creative sectors.

Among the firm’s recently completed projects is the new offices of global engineering consultancy firm, Cundall, which features a number of innovative applications of discarded and recycled materials in its interior.
