SWISS BATHROOM AND SANITARY SOLUTIONS MANUFACTURER, GEBERIT, COMBINES GROUNDBREAKING TECHNOLOGY WITH SUSTAINABILITY AND STRIKING DESIGN

Tell us about your company. The globally-operating Geberit Group is a European leader in the field of sanitary system and products.

The production network encompasses 30 production facilities, of which six are located overseas. The group is headquartered in Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland and employs 12,000 rofessionals in 50 countries, Geberit generated net sales of CHF2.9bn in 2017. The Geberit shares are listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange, and have been included in the SMI (Swiss Market Index) since 2012.

Can you shed light on your best-selling products as well as latest launches?

Geberit always improves its existing product line-up with new innovations. There is a lot of sustainable innovation happening in our product portfolio every year. As a company, we invest a lot in research and development, leading the way to provide perfect water solutions with reduced consumption, energy saving, low-noise and durable products. This approach enables flexible construction and corresponds to sustainable building standards, thus reducing our carbon footprint in manufacturing without sacrificing design quality. We apply competence at every stage from development through to delivery.

This year has seen many exciting new products from Geberit, such as the Sigma21 actuator plate. The standard frameless base unit sets the stage for high quality materials. The plate can be enhanced with a virtually limitless variety of individually-selected materials if desired. Featuring organic round buttons, the flush plate offers a myriad possibilities for personalisation, with a wide range of designs, surface finishes, and customisable options available to create a product that seamlessly complements any bathroom design. Sigma21 is also available in a variety of luxury materials, including mustang slate – a plate made from real slate sourced from Brazil – as well as black glass, white glass, and sand glass. However, it is not just about the design, the flush plate hides a wealth of technology and functionality behind it, including the Geberit sanitary installation systems, the cistern itself, and even odour extraction with the Sigma40. The Geberit flush plates are made of high-quality, durable, lightfast materials with plastic or glass surfaces and manufactured of die-cast zinc or stainless steel to meet more demanding requirements, manual, electronic or pneumatic flush actuation can be used.

To complement the Geberit bathroom series, we launched the VariForm washbasins, a new range, comprising solutions for projects in public, semipublic and private areas. The washbasins are timeless and sophisticated, thanks to their particularly slim rims. To ensure even more creative freedom, Geberit offers countertop and lay-on washbasins both with or without a tap hole bench.

This means that the washbasin tap can be attached to the ceramic appliance or the under-countertop plate as a deckmounted tap or to the pre-wall installation as a wall-mounted tap, depending on the requirements, desired design and construction situation. Harking back to the high quality attributes, the surface of the washbasins is resistant to cracks and scratches, and being easy to clean, makes it highly enduring.

Which recent projects have you been involved in?

We have an impressive list of reference projects. The refurbishment of the Jumeirah Beach Hotel Dubai; Bluewater Wharf retail areas in Dubai; Warner Brothers Park Abu Dhabi; Waterfront, Colombo, Sri Lanka; Anantara Mina Al Arab Resort in Ras Al Khaimah are a few of our recent projects.

What challenges did these projects present for Geberit?

Each project is unique and some look for special solutions. We are able to handle all the needs of any construction from the connection point of the fresh water to the final discharge of the used water on their property. This is done with key emphasis on functionality and good design going hand in hand. In summary, Geberit can cater for all the needs from the moment portable water enters your property all the way till used water reaches its discharge point.

What trends do you anticipate in commercial interiors for the year ahead?

When we talk about bathrooms, stylish yet functional, open spaces with wood are making a return as they offer a warm ambience. Illuminated bathroom mirrors, which can also provide appealing storage space, especially in residential spaces, will be in vogue.
