German brand, Grohe, a leading global name for complete bathroom solutions and kitchen fittings, was recently recognised as one of the top three most sustainable big companies in Germany, awarded by the German Sustainability Award Foundation. It honours companies that have successfully achieved a leading position in the "Big Companies" category, and which combine economic success with social responsibility and environmental protection in an exemplary manner.

The gala event was held in Dusselfdorf. It is Europe's biggest award for ecological and social commitment in different categories.

"I am delighted about the outstanding recognition that we, thanks to our commitment, received from one of Europe's key sustainability initiatives," said Thomas Fuhr, executive director, operations at Grohe and board member responsible for sustainability. "The fact that we were able to achieve this excellent result for the third time confirms the continuity and intensity with which we at Grohe pursue sustainability. We will continue to develop and produce innovative and sustainable products that enable our customers to use water and energy efficiently." The jury emphasised the fact that Grohe is constantly working on launching sustainable products and developing them further.

In addition, the jury also favourably reviewed Grohe’s sustainable production

processes in a resource-intensive industry. Thanks to its own melting furnaces, Grohe is able to control the composition of their alloys. Grohe Light, for example, contains 35% less lead than conventional alloys.

The company also saves carbon emissions with their combined heat and power plants and since 2014, has cut down on their water consumption by 16.4%.

One of the new products from the manufacturer, which integrates technology and sustainability is the Euphoria SmartControl shower. The surface-mounted installation provides a significantly slim form of the SmartControl control unit as well as convenient temperature regulation, thanks to the Grohtherm thermostat.

Featuring multi-jet shower heads, the smart shower system’s centrepiece is the combined, front-mounted push and turn control unit. Especially designed pictograms called EasyLogic provide intuitive operation. The knobs can regulate the amount of water, depending on one’s individual mood, from a gentle shower to a vigorous refreshment. By pushing a button, the spray types can be selected. The first button, for example, activates the Euphoria handshower or the Euphoria Cube stick, offering maximum flexibility so that the water can be directed exactly where it is needed. The button in the middle provides full SmartControl power. Thanks to the new ActiveRain jet version — one can choose between a powerful jet spray that flushes out the shampoo or a concentrated jet spray that is gentle yet relaxing. The third button with its gentle PureRain spray offers a shower experience of ultimate relaxation. After switching off the water, the system automatically saves the selected flow rate until the next shower.

Consumers can also reduce the water consumption of their shower by up to 40% with the SprayDimmer. This continuously variable feature allows users to reduce the water flow rate in the SmartRain spray mode of the Grohe showerhead— without compromising on the experience.
