The United Arab Emirates’ Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) marked Emirati Women’s Day on August 28 with several events and activities.

The celebration highlighted the role of the late Sheikh Zayed in supporting Emirati women. The event included a video in which female employees emphasised maintaining Sheikh Zayed’s approach.

There was also a livestream broadcast through social media channels, aiming to encourage and motivate Emirati women to work in the field of information security.

The TRA also hosted research and author Sheikha Al Ghawi, who spoke about Sheikh Zayed’s support for Emirati women, as well as hosted lawyer Salha Al-Basti, who spoke about positivity in life, self-development and perseverance.

In addition, the event included a traditional gathering with the guest-writers at TRA offices in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, followed by a traditional breakfast and visit to the Women’s Museum to see the Fine Arts exhibition organised for the occasion.

To kick off Emirati Women’s Day, TRA Director General H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori sent an SMS greeting to all female employees. Said Al Mansoori: “Emirati women have always been full partners in the process of building, progress and development supported by the wise leadership starting with the founding fathers, in particular the late Sheikh Zayed.”

Al Mansoori added: “This year’s celebrations coincide with our celebration of the ‘Year of Zayed,’ the man who believed in the Emirati woman’s ability to contribute in all fields. He always supported her, and was keen that she receives all her rights. He opened the doors of education and work for her to achieve unprecedented constant success in all fields, with the support of H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, President of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, who contributed to enhancing the presence of Emirati women through providing enabling programmes and engaging them in development programmes in all areas of public life. Her Highness has advanced women’s work to new dimensions by adopting programmes and initiatives aimed at enhancing the role of women all over the world, as we can find her achievements today in all parts of the world.

“Our wise leadership has followed Sheikh Zayed’s approach in women’s empowerment. This wise vision has been deeply rooted in the thinking and approach of H. H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, who enhanced women’s support by launching ambitious programmes and widening her horizons, to become an essential partner in various areas of national work, and to assume the highest political, executive and legislative positions as well as various senior leadership positions related to development of strategies and decision-making.”

Today, the Emirati woman stands side by side with her brother in all aspects of practical and scientific life, full of ambition and motivated by hope of taking her country to the highest levels of success and happiness.”
