LOCAL PERSPECTIVE
——
The 14th edition of Al Dhafra Festival returns to Abu Dhabi on November 5. Set amidst the dunes of the Empty Quarter, the annual event is a celebration of local culture featuring traditional activities steeped in Emirati heritage, including camel auctions, saluki shows, poetry recitals and folk music performances. Embodying the spirit of the desert Bedouin, the festival offers a glimpse into the essence of life in the UAE before the discovery of oil. Visitors can learn tribal chants while cheering the animals participating in the ever-popular camel beauty contest, purebred horse race and falconry competition. turathuna.ae
