The Con­struc­tion Week: Lead­ers in Con­struc­tion Sum­mit Kuwait 2018 re­it­er­ated its po­si­tion as the coun­try’s pi­o­neer­ing con­fer­ence for the con­struc­tion sec­tor last week. Pro­vid­ing a plat­form for pro­fes­sion­als that want to stay abreast of in­dus­try de­vel­op­ments and gain in­sights into fu­ture trends, the sec­ond it­er­a­tion of the con­fer­ence was held at the Radis­son Blu ho­tel in Kuwait City on 17 Oc­to­ber.

Speak­ers at last week’s sum­mit in­cluded Talal Al-Sham­mari, as­sis­tant sec­re­tary gen­eral at Kuwait’s Supreme Coun­cil for Plan­ning and De­vel­op­ment; Yang Chun­sen, vice pres­i­dent of China State Con­struc­tion Engi­neer­ing Cor­po­ra­tion Mid­dle East; Ah­mad Ja­mal Ja­far, vice chair­man of Kuwait Bruck­ner Con­struc­tion Con­tract­ing; and Na­bil Ko­brosly, vice pres­i­dent of busi­ness de­vel­op­ment at Par­sons’ built en­vi­ron­ment di­vi­sion. These ex­perts ad­dressed an au­di­ence of more than 60 con­struc­tion pro­fes­sion­als at the sum­mit.

On the agenda were top­ics such as the post-oil era and how it will im­pact con­struc­tion; Kuwait’s re­newed fo­cus on in­fra­struc­ture projects, such as roads, rail, and air­ports; and dis­pute and con­flict res­o­lu­tion in the coun­try’s con­struc­tion sec­tor.
