WARM LIGHTING, A BREATH-TAKING GLOSSY WHITE GRAND PIANO and French interior décor set the stage for a night made to re-ignite the spark, both in your belly and with your S.O. So what if you can’t get to Paris? La Cantine du Faubourg has brought the lovely City of Lights, to our sandy lands. We’ve still got a bit of a festive hangover, so we chose the delish festive menu to begin. A warm Chestnut Soup with Black Truffle was smooth, creamy and had me licking the bowl for that last good drop, quite literally. The Whole Lobster Salad with Foie Gras Terrine, followed. Its reigning champion the lobster, coupled with figs in the foie gras terine were phenomenal! For my main, I picked the Dover Sole coupled with Braised Leeks and Gambas (shrimps) finished with a Clams Vinaigrette. The fish was cooked to perfection and its mild, sweet flavour was complimented by the caramelised leeks and the clam vinaigrette. I would definitely recommend you try this, even if you aren’t a big fan of fish. I wasn’t and my taste buds are still thanking me. Last but not least, we had a Vanilla Crème Brûlée and a Fruit Platter for dessert. The Vanilla Crème Brûlée was the highlight of my night and made it up there on my list of fave desserts (a tough list to make). I’m a fan of anything vanilla and this sweet little dessert totally nailed it. We finished off with passionfruit, mixed berries, pineapple and sweet melon – just what was needed to seal the deal on the most perfect meal. Bon appetit at a whole ‘nother level of fabulous.
