Emirates Bride - - CONTENTS - Words: Aishwarya Tyagi

These female jewellers from the region have built a cult-like following by channelling their rich heritage to put an avant garde spin on bridal accessories. They tell their story through their hand-sculpted designs, exciting proportions and rare precious stones. These designers offer family heirlooms in the making…

Azza Fahmy

For years, Azza Fahmy has been able to give her global customer base a glimpse of Egyptian culture through her designs. With over 50 years behind her in the industry, the designs continue to blaze trails and push the boundaries of craftsmanship. Each piece of jewellery is handmade in the atelier, fusing ancient techniques in jewels which are as much about cultural storytelling as they are about embellishments. Earlier this year, Azza Fahmy launched their 14-piece Gypsy capsule collection that brought back her signature statement cuffs, necklaces with elegant earrings and rings that explored the fearless gypsy culture of North Africa.

Fatima Al Khoory

The Emirati jewellery designer Fatima, who also is a part of the prestigious Emirati Designer Gallery at the Jewellery and Watch Show 2018 is a master bridal artist. Diamonds play a major role in her designs. You can spot the conjunction of ultra-modern technology with the consciously old-fashioned setting of emeralds and other coloured stones that make for a striking combination. Fatima’s jewellery story is conventional, but still whimsical with quintessential Arab designs.

Wazna Jewellery

Statement bracelets and earrings are still having a moment and Wazna has stayed ahead of the game by creating adornments that can be well-worn beyond the bride’s big day. Sleek, modern yet decadent, her jewellery designs are born out of her personal motto of empowering the wearer to break the rules of accessorising. Wazna is known for her exquisite collection of Emirati-inspired bangles, pendants, rings, and earrings, decked with diamonds, gold and other precious metals. Wazna is also part of the Emirati Designer Gallery at the Jewellery and Watch Show 2018 that celebrates the work of local talent in the year of Zayed in Abu Dhabi.

Mukhi Sisters

The three sisters with Indian-Lebanese heritage have a unique take and perspective towards jewellery design. Their love for precious gems and an immaculate eye for design is evident in their vivid creations featuring a delicious mix of precious and semi-precious stones in minimalist settings. From fine classic designs decked with diamonds, rubies, sapphire and emeralds to haute numbers crafted using the old hand craftsmanship jewellery techniques in gold and diamond – Mukhi Sisters boast a piece to suit every personality type.
