What: Global Keratin Tested by: Lyndsey Steven, Associate Editor The lowdown: With unruly hair making getting ready a chore, it was time to get our locks in line at at Machka Beauty & Body Design. The jury may be still out on formaldehyde, but with a promise to keep hair frizz-free and manageable for up to four months (as opposed to the week that a Keratin blow out lasts) we were willing to risk it.

Plus, Global Keratin's Hair taming system has its own patented, proprietary protein, Juvexin, which, unlike hydrolized proteins found in other keratin treatments, is a keratin in its purest, most active form that allows the treatment to improve the health of your hair.

The process usually takes around three hours, but the friendly staff – “are you sure you're fine, habibi?” – ensure you're comfortable and well looked after at all times. Plus the salon offers every service under the sun, so it would be rude not to add on a mani/pedi or a massage while you're there.
