All the reasons you need to visit Kensington Hotel London

- WORDS: CARMEL HARRISON

This five star, boutique hotel set in 19th-Century Victorian townhouses is a rare treasure. The Kensington Hotel in London is your go-to for a cultured take on the capital. Located in the heart of South Kensington, the hotel is a 20-minute walk from Harrods and just a 10-minute walk from the Victoria & Albert Museum. Ask for the Brompton Suite and enjoy your own private living room, four poster bed and a free standing Victorian roll-top bath in true regal style. If you want to up the luxury-ante further, ask for the Kensington suite, which transforms the existing pair of signature suites to offer a grand apartment including two separate living rooms, three bedrooms, four bathrooms and two balconies with stunning views. The breakfast, located on the ground floor of the hotel, is definitely worth getting up for. Go for the eggs Benedict or if you're feeling a little more indulgent try the buttermilk pancakes. Book a table for evening dinner at the newly refurbished Townhouse Restaurant, the ambience here is relaxed and sophisticated and the perfect setting to catch up with an old friend or enjoy a loved ones company. To start, try the Trealy Farm charcuterie and for main, the traditional fish and chips are a must. If that isn’t enough to tempt you, the hotel boasts a 24-hour state-of-the-art gym and a spa offering holistic treatments by Viva Therapies in the privacy of your own room. One week here just isn’t enough, we’re already scheduling dates for our next visit!

No matter how you slice it, a long-haul flight can be a tedious journey, even for us well-seasoned travellers. But, thanks to Gulf Air and its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, the flying experience just got better with estra. With extra-long leg room, three windows for capturing that perfect sunrise pic and a stylish in-flight beauty kit by Cerutti, this aircraft really is ‘the dream’. Flying business class is a luxury, and Gulf Air’s Dreamliner does not disappoint. We’d even go as far to say, it trumps some of the ‘best airlines in the world’. If you’re flying to London from Dubai, this experience is a must. It offers a super quick transfer through Bahrain and is a fraction of the cost of its competitors.

The design

Designed for a calmer cabin experience the plane is equipped with a quieter air conditioner and advanced technology that isolates noises from vibrations, meaning you really can ‘sit back and relax’ at 36,000 feet.

The space

On board, you’ll find extra-long leg room, in fact it was so long our feet couldn’t even reach the foot stool. There’s no chance of feeling claustrophobic either, the window seats are designed around not one, but three windows, offering ‘almost’ panoramic views of the sky. A stylish leather Cerutti beauty kit offers all the in-flight essentials including Aigner body lotion, lip balm and fragrance, while the seat controls include a massager function, so you can land looking and feeling refreshed.

Go green

To top it all off, it’s an eco-friendly passenger plane which uses 25 per cent less fuel per passenger compared with aircraft of a similar size, which means, Flying Gulf Air’s new Dreamliner is actually better for the environment! The airline offers double daily service connects to London, Heathrow and Bahrain International Airport. Visit gulfair.com for reservations.
