A slice of cool-girl wanderlust

Growing up in a big African household, my house was always vibrant and full of noise and that is how my relationship with music began. I am a full time noise maker from talking, performing, DJing and creating new music. But more recently I have expanded the reach of my noise and created a platform called Female First Sessions giving women the chance to make themselves heard.

What draws you to each destination you travel to?

I travelled a lot with a quest of music attached. I generally travel to play and explore new cities in terms of its musical landscape. My taste for travelling started when I was super young. I used to collect travel books and cut out different locations that I would like to visit. As I became older these visions turned into festivals and clubs I would like to play.

Which country have you visited that you feel like you could have lived?

This summer I went to Greece to a small town called Kalynmos to play turntables on the Aegean. I was completely blow away by how beautiful this small island was. The people, the food, the beaches, the whole vibe basically left me feeling brand new.

Your images are cool and styleinspired, who or what is your inspiration?

I grab inspirations from many different sources – the girls in magazines to the cool kids in the new cities I travel to. But I generally move towards a more comfortable style pattern – I like to use a term I like to think I invented called ‘comfort chic’. Meaning, looking 100% fabulous while feeling like you’re completely being yourself.

The use of colour and print is very important to me in my everyday. I want to have brightness around and spread light, so why not start with my clothes? I love accessories, rings, hat, chains anything to help exaggerate my style.

Some of my style icons are Lisa Loeb, Neneh Cherry, Grace Jones and my mother in her younger years.
