A Greek Odyssey – A temple of relaxation, Amanzoe
A temple of relaxation, Amanzoe
Wellness retreats don’t get much more exclusive – or decadent – than Amanzoe. Scattered with UNESCO-protected ruins, the beach-fringed Peloponnese has been at the heart of Greek culture for millennia. Amanzoe rests on its east coast, a modern-day Acropolis from which 360-degree views encompass olive groves and Aegean blue.
Pavilions and villas with private pools open onto fragrant gardens, and speedboats await at the beach to zip between nearby islands.
The History
The wealth of nearby archaeological sites includes Epidaurus with its UNESCO-protected amphitheatre and
Sanctuary of Asklepios – the most renowned healing centre of the ancient world. The legendary citadel of Mycenae, the ancient capital of Nafplion, the village of Didyma, the Temple of Hera close to Argos, the Byzantine monastery of St Dimitrios and many other sites also rest in close proximity to visit.
Drawing on classic Greek architecture, Amanzoe’s standalone Pavilions all open onto terraces with private plunge pools and views of the surrounding land and sea. If you need something a little larger, Amanzoe’s luxury Villas are cool, spacious abodes surrounded by olive groves. Overlooking the Aegean Sea, each of the one-to-ninebedroom Greek Villas features an open terrace with sand-coloured marble floors, traditional dry stone-clad walls and concrete columns and cornices. A dedicated chef and a host serve each villa to ensure life is totally effortless during your stay.
The Wellness
The holistic healings of Hippocrates are the inspiration for Amanzoe’s light-filled 2,850-square-metre Spa, combining diet, gymnastics, exercise, massage and sea bathing with modern natural products and treatments. Only all-natural products are used, and a broad variety of proven movement modalities help treat the individual as a coherent, integrated whole.
Throughout the season, Amanzoe welcomes a host of wellbeing experts and healing specialists to offer guests exclusive treatments and therapies from reflexology to craniosacral therapy to traditional Chinese medicine.
