A pair of specs that prove your social-media worth. On Snapchat
The new Snapchat glasses that actually come with a fair amount of style-cred
Snapchat.the thing your 12-year-old nephew does on the phone when he’s busy ignoring your questions.yes, you’ve heard of it. But do you use it? Probably not.these clever sunglasses want to change that.
If you’re not up on your technology gossip, Snapchat, the social-media company, is no more. In its place is Snap, Inc. which is publicly listed on the Newyork Stock Exchange as a camera company. Last year it launched a quirkily designed pair of specs that let users record eye-level videos and then post online.this year, in true Siliconvalley form, they’ve launched another pair — Snapchat Spectacles 2.0.
These new specs record videos of 30-seconds (the camera is hidden above the right lens), and, for the first time, you can export them for use on other platforms (cough, Instagram, cough). Of course, Snapchat has kept some of the fun for itself; uploading videos to its own platform gives you a load of slick ways for your friends to enjoy the videos (in a cool augmentedreality-meets-pov kind of way). They also take photos, and to make sure they aren’t used for any nefarious purposes, have a light ring that lets others know when you’re recording.
