New col­lec­tion keeps BRE­ITLING in top spot

Bre­itling’s re­vamped Premier col­lec­tion is his­tory done right

IT’S AN IRONY of the watch busi­ness that it is not known for its speed. De­vel­op­ments out of Switzer­land take for­ever. Yet Bre­itling’s achieve­ments over the last 12 months have been re­mark­able. It has a new iden­tity (dig­i­tally and in-store), a new “squad” of am­bas­sadors and a fresh, spe­cialised line of prod­ucts. It’s prob­a­bly fair to say ev­ery­thing thus far has been lead­ing here: the Bre­itling Premier col­lec­tion.

First launched in 1943, its em­pha­sis on ur­bane el­e­gance took a back seat to the brand’s rugged tool watches. Now it’s back in a new col­lec­tion in day-date, chrono­graph and time-only for­mats, at wal­let-friendly prices. One of our high­lights of the year, it’s tan­ta­lis­ing to think where Bre­itling might get to in 2019. Wher­ever that may be, it won’t be hang­ing about.
