Landmark deal will see the Dubai-based firm oversee the fit-out and joinery works of the Expo 2020-realted project
Abanos, an established interior fit- out and joinery Company in the UAE, has been awarded a massive $13.4m fit- out and joinery contract for the Expo Village project by Dubai World Trade Centre.
The Expo Village will be using state- of- theart joinery and fit- out products manufactured at Abanos’ 21,000m2 facility to supply and install nonfire- rated and fire- rated doors, kitchen cabinets, and wardrobes for the Dubai Expo 2020 Village Project.
Kamal Farah, CEO, Abanos said: “We are thrilled to win this contract–the Expo-Village project is a milestone in our company’s journey, a result of the hard work and dedication of every single member in our diverse, experienced team.”
The Expo Village project, which is to be delivered in two phases, consists of 11 plots, each with podium parking. It will be connected to Dubai Metro’s Red Line extension — the Expo Link — and designed within a building information modelling (BIM) framework to achieve LEED Gold certification. Construction is underway and the project is set to be delivered in Q4 of 2019. In addition to hosting thousands of visitors and participants during Expo 2020, Dubai Expo Village will feature a range of retail outlets and community amenities, including a school, a day- care center, and a healthcare facility.
Work on the Dubai Expo village is currently underway.
