Etihad ESCO and Siemens to retrofit 115 mosques
Project guarantees energy savings of 4.6 million KWh in electricity & 23 million IG of water
DEWA’s Etihad ESCO has partnered with Siemens to aid the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) with reducing the energy consumption of 115 mosques and two buildings through the execution of a retrofit project.
Siemens will be supporting Etihad ESCO and IACAD to provide heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); and water and lighting retrofit solutions; along with the installation of control systems to further reduce the energy consumption of HVAC and lighting, within the framework of the first phase of the program.
The project scope will also include measurement and verification for a six years contract period. Upon completion, Siemens will guarantee a 20.43% reduction in annual energy consumption, resulting in yearly savings of over AED3,000,000.
The energy and equipment performance post the implementation of the current project are guaranteed for six years, with a payback period of 3.7 years, Etihad ESCO said.
Ali Al Jassim, CEO, Etihad ESCO said: “Mosques are capable of setting perfect examples of energy efficiency practices, thereby encouraging visitors to adopt the same. Installation of HVAC, water and lighting retrofit solutions, along with additional control systems will significantly lower energy consumption and generate huge savings across 115 mosques under IACAD’s management.”
