MATTHEW SMITH

ASSOCIATE HEAD OF SCHOOL SCHOOL OF ENERGY, GEOSCIENCE, INFRASTRUCTURE AND SOCIETY AT HERIOT-WATT UNIVERSITY DUBAI

Matt Smith is the associate head of the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society (EGIS) at HeriotWatt University Dubai.

In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the teaching and research portfolio of the School. This includes undergraduate and postgraduate education mostly in the area of the built environment such as Architecture, Civil Engineering, Real Estate Management and Finance, Construction Project Management and Petroleum Engineering, as well as high-quality, highimpact research in several diverse areas.

Smith has been with Heriot-Watt Dubai since 2014. Prior to this, Matt was in charge of the Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Programmes at Universiti Technologi Brunei. He has worked in academia for 12 years, and two years in the finance industry before that.
