A la­bor of love, hedge fund bil­lion­aire Tu­dor Jones es­tab­lished the non-profit Grumeti Fund in 2002 in an at­tempt to re­ha­bil­i­tate and re­store the Tan­za­nian Grumeti con­ces­sions that suf­fered from a poach­ing prob­lem. Af­ter years of work to re­store the area's wildlife pop­u­la­tion, to­day the 350,000-acre Serengeti prop­erty bought from the Tan­za­nian gov­ern­ment, boasts the Sin­gita Grumeti Re­serves, fea­tur­ing air-con­di­tioned tents, lodges for ev­ery taste and other ameni­ties to pro­vide a lux­u­ri­ous camp­ing ex­pe­ri­ence.
