The four classmates from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology started Selectstar to speed up the most timeconsum­ing part of developing AI: data collection and annotation. The three-year-old startup’s mobile and web applicatio­ns crowdsourc­e the tedious work from more than 50,000 people in exchange for cash. Based in South Korea, home to some of the world’s most innovative technology firms, Selectstar has worked for 130 companies, including the likes of Samsung, LG and internet giant Naver. Selectstar raised $4 million last year from Korean VC firms, including the VC arm of messenger app Kakao.
