MORE POWER TO US!

-

Just like the full meaning of perfection, until recently I did not fully understand ‘potential’, especially when it is to do with people’s capabilities. We, I used to believe, are a product of our circumstances and therefore we are – most of the time – striving to seize the moment in the best way possible. Hoping to come out on top eventually – without having to regret the decisions we make in the process – we are constantly straddling priorities, responsibilities and the several challenges that we are faced with.

In my perspective of life, then, situations had potential. And life was all about what we made of those situations – curve balls notwithstanding.

So, as I went through the article ‘Play to your strengths’ on page 28 ,Ihad a light-bulb moment that made me realise our potential lies in our assets. And identifying the traits and skills that make us unique – if not better – not only builds our confidence, but helps us stay positive. and habits that sap our energy, dampen our enthusiasm and restrict us from realising our dreams and achieving our goals.

What the process of holding the mirror up to ourselves also does is it transforms us into team players. From individuals trying to prove a point by taking on more than we can handle – constantly worrying about whether we are good enough or not – we gradually begin to identify the strengths of others and we weave together a team that complements our strengths. So go ahead: unlock your potential and find an improved version of yourself. Carpe diem!
