OFF TO THE RACES

There’s a healthier way to celebrate Easter this year: you can feast on the chocolate eggs and candy, then burn all those calories chasing after a rabbit, Alice In Wonderland-style at the Big Bunny 5K Run (pictured, above) tomorrow at Abu Dhabi Golf Club. You get to eat chocolate eggs at the start of the race and at specific intervals as you navigate a mixture of grass, sand, gravel and paths across the nine-hole championship course while hunting for the Easter Bunny and golden eggs at the finish line. Dh100 for children and Dh150 for adults; the race starts at 5pm.

Abu Dhabi’s first ladies-only night run – the FBMA Ladies Night Run – will be held at Yas Marina Circuit on April 19 at 8pm. Runners can choose a 5km or 2.5km looped course lit by floodlights. There’s also a driving range dash measuring 1,500m for juniors. Entry Dh120 per person.

Al Ain is getting in on the UAE’s race mania on April 21 at Jebel Hafeet. The Al Ain Cycle Race pedals out at 7am and over 300 riders will compete in two categories – a short course (3x10km loops) and a long course (5x10km loops) – which will both end at the top of Jebel Hafeet. Registration costs Dh50 per person.

Also on April 21, adventure theme park Wadi Al Ain is hosting the Glow and Go Run (pictured, below). The untimed race will span the entire park, which will be bedecked with neon lights and glow-in-the-dark colours. Registration costs Dh150 per person and includes entry, a neon T-shirt, glow items, refreshments and access to an after-party.

Things get colourful in Ajman too, with the Mosaic Market’s Paint Run Ajman today. The 4km race across the Ajman Corniche will see participants doused in colours as they cross every kilometre mark.

After the race, there will be live music and dance at the venue, which racers can join in. The Mosaic Market will have food and shopping booths selling fashion accessories, books, furniture and art.
