You don’t have to wait until the Dubai Jazz Festival to hear jazz music from around the world – international jazz and blues artists and bands will perform at the free Jazz Garden series at Habtoor Grand Hotel, Dubai Marina, on April 28. The concert is a subevent of the annual festival, and features gigs by local talent such as the nine-member band Soul Gorilla and Lebanese blues musician StillRaw. International acts include US jazz duo JT Project, German band Bonita and The Blues Shack (pictured, above), and American R&B saxophonist Sax Gordon. Happily, the event is just the first in a series (the organisers told Friday that the details and dates of the next set of performances haven’t been finalised. Goa’s popular nightclub Tito’s is hosting a pop-up event, One Night at Tito’s Goa, today at Zinc at Crowne Plaza Dubai. RJ Nikhil Chinapa, Ajit Pai, Greg Stainer (pictured, above right) from Hollaphonic, Joel Goa and DJ-Mister Ash perform. 10pm-3am; call 050 199 9271.
French house music group Apollonia will be performing at Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE today. The crew – comprising DJs Dan Ghenacia, Dyed Soundorom, and Shonky – will be joined by Grammy-nominated composer Carl Craig and electronic music duo Stavroz. It’s 1pm-11pm; call 056 113 3400.
American singer and songwriter Bebe Rexha (pictured bottom, right) will perform at the Autism Rocks Arena on April 28 as part of the official pre-party to Justin Bieber’s concert on May 6. The singer, known for her single I Got You, has also written hits like Rihanna and Eminem’s The Monster, Selena Gomez’s Champion and worked on Martin Garrix’s In The Name of Love. Grammy nominated-DJ and music producer Axwell (pictured, left) will be in town on April 27 to get the party started at Base, the new open-air club at Dubai Design District. Axwell – a former Swedish House Mafia member – is known for club bangers like Feel The Vibe and I Found You. The super-venue aims to rival party capitals like Ibiza and Las Vegas, with state-of-the-art light and sound systems, pyrotechnics, a multi-tiered layout and a super line-up of international artists and DJs – think 50Cent, Pharrell Williams, Fetty Wap, Future and Nicky Romero – who will perform at the venue’s short series of introductory parties before Base pauses operations for summer.
