Away yet close to our hearts

Back home in the Philippines, I had a pet dog called Chiqui. I remember when I went back after a year of working abroad, she barked at me hard and was very angry with me when I stepped out of our family car. But when I called out to her, she jumped and stood tall to embrace me (the way we humans usually do) and as if she was apologising too. After being with us for years, she left me and I am sure Chiqui is in heaven now. Ma Teresa Sanchez Edpan
