MUSIC AND DANCE SHOW

Dance-music-storytelling show, A Woman's Mind, will take to the stage at The Junction, Alserkal Avenue on September 23, 24 and 25. Created and performed by Indian-born Dubai-bred multi-disciplinary artist Shereen Saif (above) in collaboration with Welsh storyteller and director Michael Harvey, and Hindustani classical musicians Jogiraj Sikidar, Oindra Kumar Dutta and Prashant Yeware, the show is based on the tale of Ahalya, a mythological woman from the Indian epic, Ramayana. The show, supported by Alserkal Avenue, cultural initiative HIBA Art Project and The Junction, will interweave classical dance and music with contemporary storytelling to spotlight a woman who was deviant from the cultural image that was construed for women of her times.
