Play­ers worry about help­ing the ball out, but when you hang back at ad­dress to try to do that ( above), you ac­tu­ally make blad­ing or chunk­ing the shot way more likely. In­stead, keep your shoul­ders nearly level, el­bows soft and your nose cen­tered over the ball at ad­dress ( left ). Re­mem­ber that your swing bot­tom is usu­ally di­rectly un­der your head. With this setup, you’ll land the club in the same spot more con­sis­tently.
