ANANTARA DITCHES PLASTIC STRAWS
Anantara Hotels & Resorts continues to fly the flag for sustainable stays, announcing that it has banned single-use plastic straws at all properties around the world. This follows the successful roll-out of the program in Asia at the start of the year. John Roberts, group director of sustainability and conservation for Anantara says, “each single-use plastic straw takes hundreds of years to break down and scientists predict there may soon be more straws than fish in the oceans by 2050. Anantara guests are forward thinking and sustainably minded and want to continue to enjoy the beautifully lush surroundings for which Anantara is famous for generations to come.” Next in the hotel group’s sights are plastic water bottles, which they hope to phase out from guest rooms and gyms by the end of the year.
