Stop right now! History’s most iconic girl group announces a reunion tour. There’s just one catch…
TAKE A DEEP BREATH,
everyone. The Spice Girls are officially reuniting. But spoiler alert: it’s without Victoria Beckham. Sob.
This means five have become four, and last week the remaining
Wannabe hitmakers – Geri Horner, 46, Melanie Chisholm, 44, Melanie Brown, 43 and Emma Bunton, 42 – unveiled dates for an upcoming stadium tour. Emma enthused, “It’s so exciting…I just want it out there. It will be brilliant.”
The Victoria-shaped hole has come as a shock to many, since in February the five members posted a photo together and revealed they were planning to work on new projects. And just last week Victoria attended an event with Mel C, who was performing, and gushed that she was “so proud” of her “fantastic” voice.
But a source close to the band told Grazia, “The whole reunion idea had been left hanging with Victoria, and rather than just keep hitting a brick wall, they thought, ‘Let’s do it on our own.’”
Acknowledging the news, Victoria, 44, who is now recognised as an extremely sought-after fashion designer, commented, “I won’t be joining my girls on stage again but being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish them so much love.”
The ladies last performed as a quintet at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games. And now, tickets are on sale for the biggest musical comeback of the decade. Say You’ll Be There?
