IN YOUR ELEMENT

FRAGRANCE AND FENG SHUI HAVE OFFICIALLY JOINED FORCES. THE RESULT? A SIGNATURE SCENT THAT CHOOSES YOU – NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND

Grazia Middle East - - HOW TO BE IN FASHION -

WHEN YOU CHOOSE A

PERFUME, you are using the scent to tell a story. Your story. And yet so often you can embrace a friend or walk past a stranger and encounter fragrances that do not belong to the wearer, speak their values or match their personality – perhaps because there is too much choice in a complicated market.

But A-list-approved perfume house The Harmonist, which has just launched in the Middle East, is determined to stamp out fragrance faux pas for good. How? By using feng shui to help people find their elements, and thereby their perfect scent. Put simply, one of the ten elixirs chooses you.

This means The Harmonist’s approach to perfumery is a completely unique and personalised experience. Fragrance finders determine their dominant elemental energy based on their date, time and place of birth, through a destiny-management tool inspired from ancient wisdom. This personal reading enables individuals to control their destiny by steering them towards the perfume that is best aligned with their life ambitions – prosperity, relationships, serenity, seduction, creativity and prestige. We’re impressed.

Grazia speaks with Lola Tillyaeva the founder of the brand she started in 2016 – and which now counts

Heidi Klum and Kate Hudson as fans – to discuss further the first-of-its-kind fragrance attuned to your personal energy. “Our aim is for people to feel empowered,” Lola begins. “This is done by creating their own unique world, wearing a fragrance that best harmonises their personality type and balances inner energies”. Feng shui – an ancient philosophy originating from China – uses energy forces to harmonise individuals with their surrounding environment. With this in mind, the ten rare scents – a result of a collaboration with French perfumer Guillaume Flavigny and leading feng shui expert Priya Sher – are based on the two energies (yin and yang) of the five elements: fire, water, wood, earth and metal.

Grazia highly approves of

The Harmonist’s respect for the environment by using recyclable materials at every possible touchpoint – from its perfume bottles, packaging and two vegetal wax candles. All of The Harmonist’s bottles are refillable, and each is made with an opaque glass that protects the vitality of its precious perfumes, which include the world’s rarest botanical oils. Choosing perfume just got personal, and we’re here for it.
