Police collect DNA from fireworks blast victims

Police are preparing a report on DNA tests from samples collected from the area where a police truck exploded in Ajman.

Two workers were killed and two policemen injured on Tuesday when 300kg of fireworks exploded at Al Jarf in the industrial area.

The Dubai Police Forensic Science Department collected samples from the bodies and victims’ personal belongings for DNA tests.

Expert Farida Al Shamali, acting director of the de- partment, said fingerprin­t and fire experts and forensic doctors took samples of the damaged truck and Ajman Police’s vehicle.

His Highness Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman and Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior visited the two policemen who were injured in the explosion. Shaikh Saif ordered that the policemen, Mohammad Ameen and Saleh Al Balushi, be sent for treatment outside the country.
