Council approves developmen­t projects

It also reviews a number of proposals regarding schemes to develop services

( WAM) General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yesterday chaired a meeting of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.

The council reviewed a number of proposals regarding projects to develop services and improve government performanc­e.

It approved a proposal by the Housing Developmen­t Committee regarding building 200 villas at Al Dhafra Square in Madinat Zayed and the Western Region. The contract of the 600-day project was awarded to a company.

The council approved a proposal by the Abu Dhabi Cultural and Heritage Authority, regarding translatin­g books into Arabic. A work team will select the titles to be translated every year, sign contracts with Arab and foreign publishers to finance and publish the books and market them.

It also approved a pro- posal concerning the executive council’s budget for 2007. Proposals by the Department of Municipali­ties and Agricultur­e, Abu Dhabi Water and Electricit­y Authority and Abu Dhabi Economic Developmen­t Council were also approved.
