Surayud dismisses exit rumours


Army-appointed Thai Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont left hospital yesterday after a two-day medical checkup, saying he was ready to get back to work and quashing rumours he was about to resign. “My colon is good, my heart is strong,” Surayud told reporters as he left the private Bangkok hospital where he was admitted on Monday for a checkup. “I am now healthy and ready to go back to work tomorrow.” The former army chief abruptly cancelled all his engagement­s on Monday, fuelling speculatio­n he was about to step down from a job.
