Sliding Cube wins Emirates handicap


The Australian Oaks Day, at the Australian Jockey Club Autumn Carnival, saw some thrilling action.

Jockey J. Innes powered Sliding Cube to victory in the 1,200metre Emirates Keith Mackay Quality Handicap yesterday, ahead of Gamble Me and Mega Lass. Sliding Cube is trained by Gai Waterhouse and the race, worth $100,000 (Dh367,800), is for two-year-old fillies.

It was Ladies Day at Royal Randwick and there was much lined up for them on this special day, including free entry to the races. As always, competitio­n was high on the agenda, both on and off the track, with tens of thousands of dollars worth of prizes on offer for the winners of the day’s Fashions on the Field.
