A FEW OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS
Hear what the celebrities like from Farid Nemeh. Today: LINDSAY LOHAN
Lindsay Lohan, 21, is the envy of millions of women. She gained fame and fortune in her teens. She began modelling at the age of 3, acting at the age of 10 and made her motion picture debute at 11 in Disney’s The Parent Trap.
At 16 she attained international popularity for her role in Mean Girls and at 17 she surprised the filmmakers when her film Freaky Friday, opposite Jamie Lee Curtis, generated $160 million (Dh587.4 million) at the box office.
Since then she’s been in the spotlight as the hottest young actress in Hollywood, reportedly paid up to $7.5 million (Dh27.5 million) per movie.
She was included in People magazine’s annual “50 Most Beautiful” list and featured in Maxim’s 7th annual “Hot 100” list of the most successful women in films.
Moreover, she has become the youngest person to have her waxwork displayed in Madame Tussaud’s museum in New York City and has been pursued by New York politicians to canvass for their parties.
Yet fame and fortune don’t seem to be making her happy and she seems to have lost herself in the chaos of her life. The constant media attention, allnight parties, heavy drinking and smoking, plus hanging out with the likes of Paris and Nicky Hilton, Britney Spears and Nicole Richie, pushed her close to emotional and physical collapse.
The princess of party-time, whose one party bill amounted to $500,000 (Dh1.83 million), was warned by doctors after having her appendix taken out on January 4 that she is suffering from liver damage and could face serious health consequences if she doesn’t curb her drinking. On January 17 she entered rehab at Wonderland Center for 30 days, but she spent her days in downtown Los Angeles shooting her new thriller I Know Who Killed Me and returned to the recovery centre each night.
ON HER FAMILY
My mom’s probably my best friend and so are my brothers and sisters. They’re with me constantly. We’ve always been there for each other and I think that’s so important. Family’s most important. I want to get married
before I’m 30 and have my own house.
ON KATE MOSS
Kate (Moss) and I met through mutual friends. I’d always admired her fashion sense. She’s gone through a lot and I really respect her for still being the person she is. She’s beautiful, very confident and also a nice person.
I love fashion. Honestly, a lot. I’m just thinking collections because I’ve just been doing all fashion shoots. Yves St Laurent is something I really like. I also like Chanel.
ON MICHAEL KEATON
I’m a big Michael Keaton fan. My favourite Keaton films are Beetlejuice and Batman. He’s great in that and I did something similiar to that in The Parent Trap, so that’s why I really like him. I’m also a big fan of Matt Dillon. I loved him in Wild Things.
I love Madonna and Celine Dion. Madonna, all Madonna, vintage Madonna. Andy, the guy who does my hair, he does Madonna’s hair, so he gives me all the tips and he gives me all the CDs and he gave me the record before it came out. I probably shouldn’t say that.
ON MERYL STREEP
I’ve been working with Meryl Streep and it was the most amazing experience. She’s the best actress around and is so lovely. I also love Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly, particularly for their styles.
ON ROBERT ALTMAN
Robert Altman made dreams possible for many independent, aspiring filmmakers as well as creating roles for countless actors. I’m lucky enough to work with Robert Altman on a film ( A Prairie Home Companion) that I can genuinely say was a turning point in my career. I learned so much from Altman.
Eat whatever you want because the more you try to not eat, the more you will. I’d never be able to do a no-carbs and no-sugar diet. I eat all types of things. I like McDonald’s and I love
