Two engineers get life for kidnap, rape of teenager
CONVICTS FILMED ASSAULT AFTER PROMISING TO LEND HER A CAR
Two engineers were jailed for life for kidnapping an 18-yearold girl with deception and raping her in a remote desert area where they filmed the abuse. The Dubai Court of First Instance convicted the Emirati engineers, 25-year-old A.I., and 26-year-old A.S., of deceived the girl and lured her to the desert claiming that they wanted to lend her a car.
The defendants were also in- criminated sexually molesting the girl, from Comoros Island; by filming her while she was being raped.
A state of mayhem hit courtroom shortly after the brothers, sisters and friends of the defendants heard the judgement. “Why! What did they do? They didn’t kill anyone or do anything big?” the mother of one of the accused could be heard shouting outside the courtroom.
The Dubai-born girl testified that last year she got acquainted to A.I. in a chat room over the internet. She dated him shortly but then they broke up.
“A.I. asked me to add him on his Blackberry messenger sometime in March. I asked him if he could help me buy a car… he said he would lend me his. He drove in a desert path before he parked his car. He took away my two mobile phones and switched them off… he raped me first. A.I. coerced me to allow A.S. to have sex with me. He filmed A.S. raping me although I begged him to stop,” she claimed.
Prosecution records said when A.I. stopped at a shop to fix his punctured tyre, the girl asked a group of men to help her. A.I. left her there and drove away. Yesterday’s judgement remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
