Military sciences class graduates

Top- performing cadet officers honoured during graduation ceremony at Zayed II Military College

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice- President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday attended the graduation ceremony of the 37th batch of cadet officers of Zayed II Military College in Al Ain.

Shaikh Mohammad honoured the top six cadet officers in the batch.

Upon his arrival, Shaikh Mohammad inspected a guard of honour by the graduating officers. The ceremony also saw the cadet officers pledging loyalty to President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. The cadets later took part in a drill that provided glimpses of their military prowess.

Shaikh Mohammad congratula­ted the officers on their achievemen­t but urged them to pursue higher education and use their knowledge to further benefit the UAE Armed Forces. “This is your first step on a long journey. You have to keep moving forward towards the end that will qualify you to eventually become leaders in the Armed Forces,” he said.

Stated objective

Major General Salem Hilal Al Surour, head of the military college, spoke about the history of the institutio­n which was set up 40 years ago by the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He reaffirmed that the college was set up to prepare a generation of cadets with high qualificat­ions and capabiliti­es. He pointed out that the new graduates were the first batch to complete their Bachelors degree in military sciences.

Shaikh Mohammad took a commemorat­ive photo with the graduates as the ceremony concluded.

Shaikh Mohammad also received a number of senior Arab and foreign military leaders who were invited to the graduation ceremony of the 37th batch of cadet officers from the Zayed II Military College.

The ceremony was also attended by Shaikh Tahnoun Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representa­tive in the Eastern Region; Lieutenant General Hamad Mohammad Thani Al Rumaithi, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, and other senior military officials.
