Children cannot be left unattended at any time

In spite of all preventive mechanisms, if little ones are determined to see beyond, they will find a way

-

If you are a parent or guardian, spare a thought for the heartbroken mother and father of an 18- month- old Sharjah boy who fell to his death from the window of their fifth- floor apartment. All too often there have been needless deaths from similar incidents and despite the best efforts to prevent them, they continue to happen. In this particular case, it took all but a few seconds for the tragedy to occur. The boy’s mother was in the kitchen, preparing lunch for the family, while the father was in the washroom. The toddler, meanwhile, climbed up on a table adjacent to the window, opened it and fell to his death.

If there is a lesson from this incident, it is that children cannot be left unattended for even the shortest of interludes. For little minds filled with curiosity, the world outside beckons. A single moment left unattended is all it takes for a tragedy to strike.

Yes, municipal authorities, property owners and landlords can install preventative mechanisms, but if little minds are determined to see beyond, they sadly can still find a way.
