“There should be surprise school inspections. That’s the only way we can see the real condition.”

Reader points out a pedestrian crossing in Sharjah that is of no use since there are no traffic lights

- Aliiyah Al Balushi

Recently, I was in the Al Yarmook area of Sharjah trying to cross the road near a popular restaurant. There is a pedestrian crossing located in front of it. However, I wonder when one uses this crossing?

Cars zoom by on either side of the road all the time. It would be an effective crossing had there been traffic lights before it to stop the oncoming motorists.

This is a very busy road with eateries on both sides and no pedestrian crossings anywhere at all.

I request the authorities to look into this matter and do the needful. I am eagerly waiting for a crossing so that we can easily use it to safely cross the road.

?? Vimala Benjamin Desouza ?? A pedestrian crossing in Sharjah is difficult to use as the road has a lot of fast- moving traffic and there are no traffic lights to stop the vehicles.
