Adnoc opens rebranded station
Al Medina service station in Ras Al Khaimah is expected to open ‘ within days’
A dnoc Distribution, a unit of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company ( Adnoc), yesterday opened its first rebranded service station of the 75 acquired from oil retailing company Emarat.
The company signed an agreement with Emarat in September to acquire its 75 service stations in the Northern Emirates, along with the Sharjah petroleum products terminal at Port Khalid.
Following the agreement, the service stations under Adnoc Distribution’s network include 31 stations in Sharjah, 16 in Ras Al Khaimah, 12 in Fujairah, 10 in Ajman and six in Umm Al Quiwain.
“The Al Medina service station in Ras Al Khaimah will be ready within days,” Abdullah Salem Al Dhaheri, chief executive of Adnoc Distribution, told reporters yesterday at the rebranded Al Madar station in Sharjah. The company plans to finish the rebranding process of all acquired service stations by the second quarter of 2015, he said.
According to Al Dhaheri, the rebranding of the Al Madar service station cost Dh320,000. Adnoc Distribution is expanding its operations in the UAE, with over 250 stations — 21 under construction, 80 under design and the rest are being studied.
The company has 300 service stations across the UAE, with 150 of them located in the Northern Emirates and the rest in Abu Dhabi. It has five service stations under construction in Sharjah, due to be completed by the last quarter of 2014, Al Dhaheri said.
Meanwhile, he said that final stages of discussions are underway to acquire 24 service stations from Enoc in Sharjah by the first quarter of 2014.
Asked about the state of Adnoc’s on- shore oil concessions, Al Dhaheri told Gulf News: “I will not comment on it because this is not within my jurisdictions.”
