Sandance refund site goes live

Many New Year’s Eve revellers couldn’t attend event due to traffic delays

-

Aspecially created website to handle refund requests went live yesterday after New Year’s Eve partygoers to Dubai’s Sandance music festival were delayed in traffic.

Ticket holders have been directed to request refunds through SandanceNYE2013. com, which will stay active until Sunday. After verifying the purchaser and ticket information, refunds will start being issued. There had been calls for refunds following the delays on the last night of 2013.

Revellers were supposed to board dedicated buses to Sandance, held at a beach on Atlantis, The Palm. No other transport was allowed into the venue following transport restrictions for Dubai’s recordbreaking NYE fireworks show.

Stuck for hours

But many buses — leaving from the boarding point at the American University in Dubai — were stuck for hours in traffic jams leading up to the Atlantis, located on the manmade Palm Jumeirah island where thousands of fireworks were launched.

Many people

couldn’t make it to the annual bash while others suffered delays. The website last week said it would refund all ticket holders, directing them to fill out a form on the website.

“The situation was influenced by different factors that were not entirely owned by us, however feedback from our guests is extremely important to us and we are taking action to reimburse all New Year’s Eve Sandance ticket holders the full ticket value,” it said.

“Additionally, we would like offer every ticket holder of the New Year’s Eve Sandance event a 50 per cent discount on the entrance ticket value for the next Sandance music festival and we hope to welcome you back.”
