Regulations to set up tents in the capital
ABU DHABI CITY MUNICIPALITY OUTLINES PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING PERMITS
Members of the public are urged to abide by security stipulations for setting up Ramadan tents to safeguard lives and property, the Abu Dhabi City Municipality has said.
The municipality stressed the importance of getting temporary permits from the relevant authorities.
As part of its preparations for welcoming Ramadan, the municipality is ready to cope with the needs of community members in issuing permits necessary for erecting tents and typical Ramadan seating areas (majlis), which have become a feature of the Emirati community.
Detailing the procedures of issuing permits for Ramadan tents, the municipality explained that customers have to submit applications to Abu Dhabi Municipality City seeking temporary permits for erecting these tents according to the model approved by the concerned municipal centre.
The application for installing Ramadan tents must include all supporting documents required along with an undertaking from the applicant to comply with the stipulations set by the municipality. The issuance of such permits is provided by the municipality as a complementary service with no fees involved.
Conditions to be met
The municipality said that after submitting the supporting documents, a field inspection visit will be made to the site on which the tent will be set up to ensure that the site conforms to the following conditions: the tent must not be set up on public utility lines or extensions thereof.
The construction of the tent must not cause damage or loss to utility lines, pavements or streets.
Tents must not block streets, routes or entry points to buildings, car parks or emergency exits
Tents must not impact the mobility of pedestrians and must not be constructed on private properties of a third party.
