Gulf News

What does it mean?

Pope Francis ended his African tour at a refugee camp in Bangui, Central African Republic, according to the page A31 report, ‘Pope appeals for coexistence in Central African Republic’, published in the World section of Gulf News on November 30.

The region is deeply divided between Christians and Muslims due to sectarian violence, which has resulted in a lot of bloodshed. Pope Francis said: “Work, pray, do everything for peace. But remember, peace without love, friendship and tolerance is nothing. I hope that all Central Africans can see peace.”

However, six out of 10 Gulf News respondents said he shouldn’t win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Ironically, on October 10, four out of ten readers voted for Pope Francis when Gulf News asked who should win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Pope Francis was a contender for the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize for being a champion of the poor, helping relations between Cuba and the US, and for calling to protect the environment from global warming.
