Parades, fireworks and music lined up

National Day events covering culture and entertainm­ent to be held till December 4

From demonstrat­ions by the Armed Forces to parades, folklore programmes and fireworks displays, 44th National Day celebratio­ns are in full swing across the UAE.

Giant water slide

Visitors to the Abu Dhabi Corniche can also enjoy taking turns on a giant water slide installed specially for National Day celebratio­ns.

The structure is 17 metres high and 60 metres long. The slide will be open from 5pm to midnight till December 4.

Musical evening

The Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority has organised three days of celebratio­ns during the course of the Shaikh Zayed Heritage Festival. Apart from the normal activities, which are part of the festival, there will be musical evening with singers from UAE and Arab world.

The programmes at Shaikh Zayed Heritage Festival will continue till December 12 at Al Wathba in Abu Dhabi. Entry to the venue is free.

A National Car Parade will also be held at Yas Island today. It will include a competitio­n for the best decorated cars from 4 to 11pm.

Camel marathon

Dubai will host its first Camel Marathon today as part of the 44th National Day celebratio­ns.

The 50-km long race will be held at Al Seih Al Salam area of Dubai at 10am. The camel race comes as part of the cultural, heritage and sports activities organised by the Hamdan Bin Mohammad Heritage Centre that contribute to reviving traditiona­l Emirati practices and customs.

A night with Munshid

A night with Munshid will be held at Sharjah Amphitheat­re will be held today at 8pm on December 4 as part of the National Day celebratio­ns.

The event is being organised by the Sharjah Media Corporatio­n under the patronage of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

The Munshid is a popular competitio­n programme on a local, Gulf and regional level. The ceremonies will be held with the participat­ion of the competitio­n’s final qualified singers, and will include a number of officials from various institutio­ns and renowned personalit­ies.
