- Pizza Jigarthanda

The team that served Tamil film lovers and

(a cool refreshing drink) is back with another film. This time, the title does nothing to tickle the taste buds, but Iraivi (Goddess) is unlike director Karthik Subbaraj’s earlier two films. What is common here to Subbaraj’s earlier films is the presence of two versatile actors, Vijay Sethupathi and Bobby Simha in lead roles.

At the music launch ceremony of Iraivi held in Chennai recently, Sethupathi said that Iraivi was about the women in our lives, the mother, sister, wife and daughter.

“Iraivi will make men pause a while and rethink [their relationship with] women,” he said.

Director SJ Suryah plays the third lead and has also sung the song, Onnu Rendu. He is paired opposite Kamalini Mukherjee, who returns to Tamil cinema after some years. Anjali and newcomer Pooja Devaria are the other heroines. Check out Iraivi’s songs available online, especially lyricist Vivek’s song, Manidhi, that exhorts women to break free. Iraivi is produced by C.V. Kumar and is scheduled for a May release.
