Walk to Sydney

Forget a stroll along the beach: Dubai wants to you walk to the other side of the world. Well, digitally, at least. A new app from Dubai Government aims to get people moving by clocking their steps and showing how far you’ve travelled, moving virtually through 38 cities over 13 to 15 months. The Good Move Dubai app, launched this week, gives rewards for those who travel far and complete fitness tasks along the way. To celebrate the launch, there’s a three-day festival on Kite Beach called Unlock the World. The application’s virtual walkway will be recreated with miniature monuments from across the world, with challenges everyone can take on — there are also adapted activities for the disabled. It’s open 2-8pm today and 2-10pm tomorrow and on Saturday.
