Dubai reviews higher education plan

Executive Council discusses proposals and recommends steps for the future

The Dubai Executive Council (DEC) yesterday discussed various features of the emirate’s higher education plan.

The meeting was chaired by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of DEC.

The council looked number of proposals at a and recommende­d future steps submitted by the Knowledge and Human Developmen­t Authority (KHDA) to improve the outputs of the higher education sector.

The proposals are based on an analysis of the current state of the sector and future key challenges in terms of output, governance, laws, quality of available human resources and budgets for research and studies.

The meeting was also attended by Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and First Deputy Chairman of DEC, and Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group and Second Deputy Chairman of DEC, and other officials.

The council also listened to a detailed presentati­on by Dubai Health Authority on the health-care services’ pricing system for the emirate.

This includes an unbiased and transparen­t system for evaluating the quality of medical services, as well as an index on the costs for operating health-care establishm­ents.
