Who’ll speak for animals if we don’t?

-

ow would you like it if you were used in an experiment to see if a product was safe? And then when they were done with you, they killed you off, as if you didn’t matter. Well, that is what is being done to animals. They are being tested on. Sometimes, scientists give animals radioactive material to eat, to see how fast they die. Why do people do something so inhumane for no apparent reason?

All living things have a right to live on Earth, but we very often become totally insensitive to their pain, only because animals can’t speak the language of humans. Left in unsanitary conditions with no food or water, they have little hope as they live out their days without the compassion they deserve. Some are found and rescued, given the chance to experience how great life and humans can be; others aren’t so lucky. We must fight for these abused animals’ rights and severely punish heartless owners. It is up to us to speak for these creatures who lack a voice, for who will if we don’t?

With reference to the man who fed his cat to his dogs recently, I found it to be a gruesome act. Let us remember that animals are not merely resources for human consumption. They are splendid beings in their own right, who have evolved alongside us as co-inheritors of all the beauty and abundance of life on this planet. He should be punished so severely that he repents for his action.

In all aspects animals are better than us human beings, although we claim that we are the greatest creation. But we are the only creatures who take advantage of Nature. Seeing the way this man was punished, people should learn to respect and value the lives of animals. Gulf News is not liable for any of the reader-delivered content on this page.
