Council set up to push fourth industrial revolution
The UAE Cabinet yesterday approved the establishment of the UAE Council for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The council will oversee the UAE’s fourth industrial revolution strategy and supervise its implementation.
The setting up of the council also follows the announcement of the UAE Government in November 2016, during which it launched the first executive plan in the world for the fourth industrial revolution.
The plan is in line with the UAE’s fourth industrial revolution approach and driving it towards a ground reality. The council’s establishment is also in line with the UAE’s approach in foreseeing the future and developing an industrial renaissance that is based on advanced technologies, and the minds and innovations of gifted Emirati youths.
Al Gergawi to chair council
The council will be chaired by Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future. Other members include Sultan Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy; Hussain Ebrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education; Ohoud Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness; Shamma Suhail Faris Al Mazroui, Minister of State for Youth; Mohammad Omran Al Shamsi, Chancellor of Higher Colleges of Technology, UAE University and Khalifa University for Science and Technology. Other members also include the director-general of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, director-general of the National Electronic Security Authority, director-general of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Space Centre, directorgeneral of the Smart Dubai Office and chief executive of the Dubai Future Foundation.
