Syria is suffering as world watches

-

here was a nerve gas attack in Syria just a few days after the metro bomb in Russia (“Gassed to death”, Gulf News, April 5). It is hard to believe this is happening in the 21st century, and the whole world is watching these atrocities. Bashar Al Assad is clearly a dictator. This is so sad! Unspeakable atrocities are being committed. From Mr Shaker Allah Dubai Facebook comment

No fault of theirs

T his is extremely horrifying. What is the fault of these innocent people in Syria, especially the children? What has happened to humanity? From Ms Sana Qureshi Dubai Facebook comment

Terrible state of affairs

T his is awful (“Russia labels metro blast ‘act of terror’”, Gulf News, April 4). Why would anyone in their right mind orchestrate such a catastrophic metro bombing?

May God help the victims and their families. From Mr Naz Spahi-Shoaib UAE Facebook comment

Terrorists in trouble

I am sure the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, will not let this terrorist attack go easily. From Ms Maxene Dodds UAE Facebook comment

Maths is tough, that’s the point

I don’t get it (“Indian students in UAE launch petition after ‘tough’ maths exam”, Gulf News, April 3). Isn’t mathematics

supposed to be all about the understanding of concepts or equations needed for solving problems? So, even if the question is not in textbooks, or is differently worded, you should still be able to get the correct answer. Perhaps there were errors in printing. Why do some children expect a test not to be hard? From Ms Melanie Edel UAE Facebook comment

Accept the challenge

T his is not a new thing to us. It is every student’s responsibility to study and prepare for every possible mathematical equation. What is the point if all questions come directly from textbooks? From Mr Allan Russel Castelino UAE Facebook comment

Banned medication

A lthough tramadol, a narcotic-like pain reliever, is not as strong as some drugs, it shares many of the same effects, and is addictive (“Unplanned visit lands student in drug case”, Gulf News, April 3). If he was carrying 4,000 pills, the matter definitely needs investigation. From Mr Praveen Arakkal UAE Facebook comment

Brilliant idea

T his is an impressive initiative, especially when added to the free public WiFi at the beach, as well (“Video: A library at the beach”, Gulf News Facebook, April 3). From Mr Yousuf Haffejee UAE Facebook comment

Fire containment

P roperty developers should be aware of the safety measures in storing building materials (“Smoke rises again from Fountain Views tower”, Gulf News, April 3). Chemical reactions could occur when materials meet extreme temperatures. From Mr Prabin Giri Dubai Facebook comment

Nothing has changed

I have been seeing news reports on reduced rents for quite some time, but have not heard people saying that their rents have dropped (“Dubai landlords are lowering rents, extending leases to keep tenants”, Gulf News, April 4). From Ms Fernanda Troy Rios Sao Paulo, Brazil Facebook comment
